      As a Belgian beer lover I just would like to inform you that there are indeed great beers out there. Sadly even here, in Belgium, the land of the beers (I do mean that, in Germany they specialize in one type of beer, the pilsener) it is quite hard to find most descent beers, so I admire the passion you put into it.

    I have a cousin living in Eugene (Oregon) and he brought me some Ninkasi Brewing, have you tried it? He’s got his own Brewing too, it’s just too bad he doesn’t sell it or at least make more of it…

    Hi Becki, was just enjoying a Lagunitas Hop Stoopid when I stumbled upon your blog. What a great find…..cute girl who loves craft beer AND home brews? yes please. Anyways, I was wondering if you had taken your Cicerone Beer Server Certification? I plan on taking it but like you, I don’t want to just get lucky on guesses, I want to know this stuff forwards and backwards. I home brew, have read the complete joy of homebrewing many times, and read Tasting Beer by Randy Mosher. Any other suggested readings? Keep up the good work, Becki. I look forward to your future “bloggings”(?)

    • I haven’t taken it yet. I’m hoping to in the next few weeks. Just have to get the SRM/ABV/IBU info for every style of beer memorized. Oy vey. One of my favorites books is “Radical Brewing”. That’s the style of beer I want to end up making – stuff that’s REALLY out there, but delicious!

    Hey Becki! I’ve been following your blog for awhile now and I really like your style. Tomorrey and sammitch are my two favorite Bexterisms. I’ve tried a couple of recipes too, and they all seem to work out surprisingly well (which is sometimes a problem for me with new recipes). You have been officially added to my morning blog roll. Can’t wait to hear more!

    P.S. It’s nice to read about a California girl who likes good beer. It’s a rarity in my parts, I find.

        Nope. No requests. Just keep doing what you’re doing. Although… I did just get an immersion blender and it’s Fall and I love soups, so whatever you want to take from that.

    Hi there. I love the blog!
    My wife and I consider ourslelves wanna be foodies and over the last year I have started to brew my own beer. I am obsessed with it now!! I am completely obsessed with the idea of pairiing craft beer and great food. Especially for entertainiing.
    So my question is: Starting from my amateur home brewer status what is the best way to educate myself about all things beer? How do I become better at pairing meals? Any advice?
