Sweet spiced cookies that can be made vegan-friendly, just in time for Christmas.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter ((or vegan butter substitute))
- 1 cup loosely packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup blackstrap molasses
- 1/4 cup agave nectar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (mixed with 1 tsp water)
- 3-4 cups white whole wheat flour (as needed)
Directions
Step 1 | |
Cream butter (or vegan butter substitute) with brown sugar, molasses and agave nectar. | |

Stir in cinnamon, cloves and baking soda mixture. | |

Add flour a little at a time, mixing well until a stiff dough forms. | |
Step 4 | |
Roll dough into a log, wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for at least an hour. | |
Step 5 | |
Remove from refrigerator, slice and bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly brown. |
